The annual Hong Kong Green Building Week 2026, a major public event co-organized by the Construction Industry Council and the Hong Kong Green Building Council to promote green building, will kick off this September. This year's theme is "LOOK! Green Building Footprints, Known to the Whole City: Towards Carbon Neutrality," calling on the public to explore green building footprints around them. Through professional experiences, city tours, and daily low-carbon practices, participants will learn how green building injects green energy into urban development and the living environment from four aspects: health and comfort, resource efficiency, environmental friendliness, and innovative elements. A brand-new TV promotional video will premiere on September 1st, featuring Wu Yip-kwan and Traya as "Green Building Agents" alongside four green building experts, leading citizens to discover carbon reduction clues in everyday urban life. Following this, on September 2nd, the LOOK GREEN! "Lightweight" Workday will encourage office workers to respond to low-carbon office practices with lightweight, professional, and stylish attire. Promoting "Lightweight" Workplace Attire and Encouraging Companies to Respond to Green Office Practices Creatively

The annual "LOOK GREEN!" "Lightweight" Workday will be held on September 2nd (Wednesday). The event aims to promote lightweight, breathable, and professional work attire, integrating environmental protection and carbon reduction awareness into daily office culture. To encourage participation from businesses and organizations across Hong Kong, the organizers are launching the LOOK GREEN! "Me and My Greenest Office" challenge. From August 20th to September 3rd before 12:00 noon, businesses and organizations simply need to have their employees wear "lightweight" attire, take photos in a green office environment, and upload them to their company's social media platforms, showcasing the team's green vitality and carbon-reduction creativity. Challenge four tasks to unlock new green building professional skills, win limited edition souvenirs and have your "Expert Work Permit" made!

LOOK CLOSER! The "Green Building Careers Discovery" event will be held from September 18th to 20th (Friday to Sunday) at the Roman Circus, 1st Floor, New Town Plaza Phase 1, Sha Tin. Through career experience games, weekend-only green workshops, and sharing sessions by green building experts, the event allows citizens to learn about the daily work of different green building specialists while having fun. The career experience activities are structured around four tasks that span the entire lifecycle of green buildings—design, construction, operation, and energy-saving renovation—leading participants to explore the core aspects of green building from all angles. The first task, "Be a One-Minute Eco-Architect," uses AI image generation technology and the BEAM Plus concept to score buildings, understanding eco-friendly building design strategies such as nature-oriented, people-centered, and energy-saving approaches. The second task, "Be a One-Minute Green Building Engineer," combines a dynamic sensory game to personally experience how the "Mété-Mechanical Engineering and Construction Engineering" (MiMEP) method improves site safety and construction efficiency while reducing resource waste. The third task, "Be a Facility Manager for One Minute," simulates Internet of Things (IoT) environmental data analysis, demonstrating how intelligent systems can manage a building's energy efficiency in real time. The fourth task, "Green Building Experts Gather," presents cross-professional collaboration throughout the building's lifecycle in a fun and engaging way, working together to promote the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.

After completing all four tasks, participants will receive a beautiful souvenir. Souvenirs include a limited-edition Green Building Hero mini digital camera, a Green Building Partner-themed towel, or a DIY heat-transfer eco-friendly bag, while supplies last. Green Building Knowledge Classroom Launches This Weekend: Experience the Fun of DIY and Listen to Expert Lectures

LOOK CLOSER! The "Green Building Careers Discovery" weekend's special "Green Knowledge" workshops allow participants to experience the joy of green creation while integrating green building knowledge into their daily lives. Three workshops are included: "Smart Lighting: Sensor-Mounted Light House" made using recycled materials; "Smart Living: Automatic Watering Flower Pot" combining seed cards and an automatic sensor-activated sprinkler system; and "Palm Oasis: Miniature Landscape Plant Bottle" made using peat moss, pumice, moss, and ferns. Each workshop has two sessions, with 20 participants per session. Each workshop includes a sharing session by green building experts, where industry professionals will guide the public to gain a comprehensive understanding of the green building industry and broaden their horizons for a green future!

Four "Building" Traces: In-Depth Tours – Multi-Dimensional Analysis of Green Building and Urban Sustainable Development

In addition to the green building career experience within the mall, LOOK INSIDE! The "Green Building Traces" In-Depth Tour will take the public on September 19, 26, and 27 (Saturday and Sunday) with leading green building experts to four selected green buildings that have received green building environmental assessment certification. Participants will explore firsthand how green buildings respond to the diverse needs of society and communities. The four routes, totaling 12 sessions and offering over 400 places, integrate guided exhibitions, birdwatching experiences, and creative workshops, allowing families to gain a comprehensive understanding of the benefits of green buildings in enhancing quality of life and promoting sustainable urban development from multiple perspectives, including architectural aesthetics, nature conservation, urban infrastructure, and community culture.

LOOK INSIDE! The "Green Building Traces" In-Depth Tour encompasses multiple diverse themed routes. The first session, "Artistic Retreat," will be held on September 19 (Saturday) at the Lo Kwai-cheung Pavilion, Art Museum, Chinese University of Hong Kong, guiding participants to appreciate its unique architectural design concepts and green building ingenuity. The itinerary combines the appreciation of precious artifacts, showcasing the harmonious integration of cultural heritage and green building aesthetics. The "Green Building Careers Discovery" event offers a seamless continuation of the exciting green building exploration journey for citizens!

The "Ecological Exploration Tour" and "Infrastructure Innovation Tour" will be held simultaneously on September 26th (Saturday). The "Ecological Exploration Tour" will take participants to the Long Yuen Nature Ecological Park, a park combining wetland conservation and nature education, allowing them to personally experience the harmonious coexistence of green buildings and the natural ecosystem. The event also features a specially invited senior birdwatcher and ecological photographer providing guided tours, instructing participants on how to use birdwatching binoculars to observe rare birds and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of biodiversity and environmentally friendly design. The "Infrastructure Innovation Tour" will take participants to the rarely open Central Kowloon Bypass (Yau Ma Tei Tunnel) Administration Building, allowing the public to understand the innovative features of this large-scale green infrastructure in smart energy saving, green design, and sustainable development. The tour also includes an eco-friendly hands-on experience, where participants can use the innovative eco-friendly material "Happy Land Plaster" to create their own cement paintings, experiencing the benefits of resource recycling and the infinite possibilities of green building materials.

The grand finale will be the "Artistic Efficiency Tour" on September 27th (Sunday). The itinerary will take the public to the East Kowloon Cultural Centre, a space that blends artistic creativity with efficient resource utilization, to appreciate how its sustainable design connects the community and serves as a cultural and creative landmark and hub within the district. Participants can also experience a hands-on "Metal Wire Art Experience," weaving a "Ficus microcarpa" artwork that embodies the collective memory of the community and adding a touch of greenery to their homes.
